P-51D Mustang fighter, flown by a pilot of the famed Red Tails. The Red Tails were made up from graduates of the Tuskegee Institute, and they made history as the first black combat flying organisation in the Army Air Corps. Their war record was outstanding, and a testament to their skil, courage, and perseverence in the face of institutionalised racism.
