Triumphant Achilles Poster

“Triumphant Achilles dragging Hector's lifeless body in front of the Gates of Troy”. This is a reproduction of a panoramic fresco on the upper level of the main hall of the Achilleion on the island of Corfu built by Empress Elizabeth of Austria in 1892. The artist was Franz von Matsch who died in 1942 at the age of eighty-one years. He was born in Vienna and worked with the Klimt brothers before he was enobled by the Hapsburgs in 1912.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
