Tower of London

The Tower of London on the north bank of the River Thames was one of the gates to the original city of London, and provided defense against attack from the river. The high tower was used for 'political' prisoners in the middle ages, and has the last home for many of England's royalty over the years. It now houses the Crown Jewels, and the resident garrison are the famoues Beefeaters in the crimson and yellow uniforms. This view taken from the south bank on a bright sunny day with clear blue skies shows the building in all its splendor.
