Toccoa Falls (Summer) Note Card

Toccoa Falls is a 186 ft. waterfall located on the campus of Toccoa Falls College. The name "Toccoa" may be a Cherokee word for "beautiful". On November 6th, 1977, after torrential rains, the mud dam holding back Kelly Barnes Lake, which was located above the falls, collapsed. 176 million gallons of water surged through the small campus, killing 39 people. A memorial to those who lost their lives that night is located at the base of the falls. Toccoa Falls College can be found on Falls Road, Highway 17, in Toccoa, GA.
