Tibesti Mountains Chad Postcard

The Tibesti Mountains are a spectacular and remote volcanic mountain range located in the central Sahara Desert, primarily within northern Chad's Borkou and Tibesti regions. This towering massif features dramatic sandstone spires, massive volcanic craters known as calderas, and sprawling fields of dark basalt lava that contrast sharply with the surrounding desert sand. It is home to Emi Koussi, an inactive shield volcano that stands as the highest peak in both Chad and the entire Sahara Desert.
