Thrilling Tales: Nat Draws Down (24x18") Poster

Here's the final version of one of my illustrations for Trapped in the Tower of the Brain Thieves: the first of my illustrated, interactive stories at Thrilling Tales of the Downright Unusual. Nat Gonella is nobody's fool. He knows that nine times out of ten, when you finally break down and pull out your disintegrator pistol, things actually get worse. It's just that you sometimes find yourself in one of those situations that don't leave you one heck of a lot of other options. Like this situation, for example: you break into the mad scientist's tower, worm your way through his twisty passages, find out that he really is the Brain Thief you've been chasing, and you manage to get the drop on him. At which point, something goes horribly wrong. So I don't care if you're Mahatma Gandhi, fella - there's a reason you've been packing that ray gun around all this time. Right? Yeah. I thought so. This version of the illustration is based on the one at the web site, and in the book, but has been re-rendered and overpainted in a much higher resolution even than the book's version: 300 pixels to the inch, at 18 by 24 inches.
