Three Hares Rabbit Four Seasons Gold Whimsical Bone China Mug

A beautiful and intricate design, originally hand painted and glazed onto ceramic tile, depicts a traditional motif - three rabbits or hares sharing just three ears, and chasing each other in a circle. Each of the four corners has flowers and vegetation found in one of the four seasons - spring, summer, fall, winter. The natural colours include shades of green, gold and grey. A gold - hued border encircles the rabbits. A traditional folk verse is written in the border - "Rabbits three and ears as few - yet each rabbit has its two." The ancient chasing hare symbol, found throughout Europe, Britain and the Middle East, is thought to symbolise rebirth and unity.
