Three Cranes Cushion
The crest of three cranes. 'Mon-dian' refers to it as 'three cranes'. The heraldic crest is based on the red-crowned crane. There is an ancient legend in China and Japan that the crane is ridden by hermits and soars through the skies. In the 'Four Seasons' narrative, a contrast between the pine branches and the crane is depicted, and it is often paired with the tortoise, a symbol of longevity, on an island pedestal representing Mount Penglai.
