The crest of the Asano family. Nagamasa Asano, the third son of Nagamasa Asano, moved from his old domain of Hitachi to Ako in Harima with 53,000 koku. Although it was a branch domain with a tradition of over 100 years, it was abolished in 1701 due to Nagamori's incident in the palace. This incident led to the revenge attack by the 47 Ronin led by Yoshio Oishi (according to Kenichi Takahashi's 'The Crests of Daimyo Families'). This design is based on the crest on the gate of Oishi Shrine in Ako City.
