A circa 1884 poster for William Shakespeare's Richard III starring Thos. W. Keene. Thomas Keene (1840-1898) was a well-known American stage actor. After five years in stock theatre in San Francisco, in the 1870s he played supporting roles with the famous actor Edwin Booth. Known for his repertory of Shakespearean roles, including Richard III, Othello, Hamlet, Louis XI, Romeo, and Cardinal Richelieu, he toured widely for more than twenty years, performing in small cities across the U.S.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
