We Three Kings is a favourite Christmas carol at our house. When John Henry Hopkins Jr. wrote the classic song in 1857 for a Christmas pageant at his church in Philadelphia, he couldn't have guessed how popular the tune would be even now. The carol reflects the story of the Magi, or Wise Men, who followed a star to visit the newborn Jesus, as recounted in the Gospel of Matthew.
