The worm peeks out of ulcerous blisters to lay eggs, primarily when the wound is placed in water to cool and soothe it. The practitioner would pull the worm out slowly by winding it around a stick." - Rod of Asclepius - Wikipedia. Luckily, that's the winding worm of death, and this is just the winding worm. No relation whatsoever, nothing to fear, no skin infection worries here! Maybe I shouldn't of put this folklore spin in my description....
