The Voyage of Life: Youth, by Cole - Large, Blank Card

Thomas Cole's painting from 1842 is simply stunning. Set in a natural enivornment, this work incorporates elements of the real and mystical world. It's a beautiful setting. The boat in the foreground is travelling through a body of water that is flanked by grass and trees. Off in the distance is a castle that looks like it's made out of clouds. An angel stands off to the side with her hand raised. She looks like she's directing or giving permission for the figure to go to the castle. Additionally, this painting has lots of depth.
