The Ten Largest No. 1 | Hilma af Klint Poster

The Ten Largest, No. 1, Childhood (1907) is the first piece in Hilma af Klint's groundbreaking series The Ten Largest, which explores the stages of human life through abstract art. This painting, focusing on childhood, is vibrant and filled with symbolic references to innocence, growth, and the untapped potential of early life. The composition is filled with soft, flowing shapes and bright colours that evoke the purity, curiosity, and wonder typical of childhood. Af Klint's use of abstract forms—often in the form of circular and organic shapes—suggests the simplicity and openness of the young mind, in harmony with the natural world. The spiritual elements embedded within the piece also hint at the connection between childhood's natural state and the broader cosmic forces, reflecting af Klint's interest in mysticism and the unseen energies that influence human existence. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
