The Talle Gaard (The Talla Farm) '78 MEJP Metal Lunch Box

The Talle Gaard (The Talla Farm) '78 MEJP Metal Lunch Box ... Artwork oil painting by my Great Aunt Margaret Enid Johnson Porter 1978. Her son, my dad's first cousin, Len Porter, gave me his permission, as follows here: "Dear Mark. Glad you are feeling better. Thanks for being in touch. We do own the Talle/ Talla painting. This email provides non-exclusive rights for you to promote, sell, or otherwise adapt and print reproductions of the painting including, but not limited to zazzle. The name Margaret Enid Johnson Porter or MEJP as artist should be used at all times either with the image or if not artistically possible with the promotion. The more attention for MEJP the better. I’ll follow up with more comments from your email but I want you to know i appreciate your interest in our mother, your great aunt as an artist. She dearly loved your grandmother, as is the case also for me." I love this painting! How cool is this!!! My Great Aunt Margaret Enid Johnson Porter and my Grandma Phyllis Talla Johnson Westerfield were sisters. Their mother, my Great Grandma Clara (Claire) Sage Talla was 100% "full blooded" Norwegian as the family would say, because all four of my great grandma's grandparents were all born in Southern Norway and immigrated to America in the mid 1800s. My great grandma's great grandparents, Nils and Susanna Christophersdatter Nitter Talla / Talle, lived and died at Talle Gaard (Talla Farm) in Lustrafjorden (Lustre Fjord Valley) the northern-most and the inner-most branch of Sognfjorden (Sogn Fjord). A surviving branch of the Talla family still live on the same farm! As far as I understand it, their mail is sorted via the Sogn Fjord (formerly the Fylke Sogn og Fjordane up to January 1, 2020), then to Hoyheimsvik (SW from Talla Farm), then to Talla Farm. I found that Susanna Christophersdatter Nitter Talla / Talle was born in Kjorlaug / Kjorlog Indre / Inner Hafslo, between Hafslo to the south and Joranger, the Benkestok estate, to the north and Gaupne to the northwest and Talla to the northeast, Lustrafjorden Sognefjorden Norway, she lived and died at nearby Talle Gaard (Talla Farm) ... She directly descended from Mediaeval and Viking Era kings in Norway through both her parents and she descended from both brothers Sigurd Havtoresson Sudreim and Jon Havtoresson Sudreim by many lines back to them, both being the grandsons of the last true Norwegian king in Norway King Haakon V Magnusson (who died in 1319) by his eldest child Princess Agnes Haakonsdatter who married the Norwegian nobleman the Baron of Sudreim Havtore Jonsson Roos, himself directly descended from earlier kings of Norway. So, this beautiful landscape painting shows the historical home of the Talle / Talla family in Norway. This is where my grandma's middle name Talla comes from ... it was her mother's (my great grandma's) maiden name. Talla Farm is in Lustre Fjord Valley, the Northern-most and inner-most branch of greater Sogn Fjord, the former Kingdom of Sogn (Sokn). The fjords were created by ice glaciers carving out the land. Most of the Sogn fjord has steep sides and the fjord gets deeper the more you go towards its inner-most branch Lustre Fjord. So this fjord reaches its deepest near Talla Farm. Across from Talla Farm is the magnificent Feigumfossen Waterfall. The farms of this region are famous for their fruit trees and for their jams and jellies. There is an ice glacier valley Jostedal to the SW of Talla Farm. I am almost age 71 (born July 9, 1952) as I write this and only just recently found out about this painting by my Great Aunt Margaret Enid Johnson Porter. I think it is fantastic with its family relevant history! Mark Edward Westerfield, son of Frank Edward Westerfield, son of Phyllis Talla Johnson Westerfield, sister of Margaret Enid Johnson Porter. The sisters were daughters of Clara (Claire) Sage Talla whose great grandparents lived and died at Talle Gaard / Talla Farm. ps. Len Porter wrote me yesterday Wednesday 6-21-23: For any of the MEJP paintings I post on Facebook Johnsons you have non-exclusive rights to reproduce and sell anyway and every way possible. Keep this email in your file if there is ever a question. Only stipulation is to use her full name whenever possible. Howard L Porter III, PhD ................. Thank You to Len! I will post here the generations (one line of several) from me back to the 1593 marriage of Maren and Anders Lauritzson Heiberg Fuhr Ronnei at his brother's place at Talle: Mark Edward Westerfield Frank Edward Westerfield Phyllis Talla Johnson Westerfield Clara (Claire) Sage Talla Johnson Nils Toge Talla ... He married Johanna Sage. Toege (TØger) Nitter Nilssen (Nilsson) Talla (Talle) ... Immigrant to America mid 1800's ... born at Talla / Talle. Susanna Christophersdatter Nitter Talla (Talle) ... She married Nils Nilssen Hillestad Talla / Talle. * Christopher Andersson Nitter ... He married Ollegaard Thomasdatter Dalsoren, his distant cousin. ** Anders TØgersson Nitter ... He married Kirsti Jansdatter Bjork of Lustre Fjord. Maren (Massi) Andersdatter Heiberg Ronneid (Ronnei) Nitter. She married her own 2nd cousin TØger Henriksson Nitter. *** Anders Christensson Heiberg Ronneid (Ronnei) ... He married cousin Malene Mogensdatter Eide. **** Christen Andersson Heiberg Ronneid (Ronnei) ... He married Birgitte SØfrensdatter Heiberg. ***** Maren Tordsdatter Benkestok Heiberg Fuhr Ronneid (Ronnei) ... She married Anders Lauritsson Heiberg Fuhr Ronneid (Ronnei) at Talla in 1593 which around then was owned by his brother SØfren Lauritsson Heiberg "af Talle". OK, there you have the 430 years back list of 13 generations back to the 1593 marriage at Talle of Anders and Maren. My sister's kids add a generation. Her grandkids add another generation. notes * Susanna was directly descended from kings of Norway through both her parents. She was descended from King Haakon V's eldest daughter Agnes through both her parents. She was descended from Anders and Maren who married at Talle in 1593 through both her parents. ** Both cousins were descended from King Haakon V's eldest daughter Agnes and her husband who descended from previous kings in Norway. *** Both cousins descended from Anders and Maren who married at Talle in 1593. **** Both cousins descended from King Haakon V's eldest daughter Agnes and her husband who descended from previous kings in Norway. ***** There are various versions of this including that she was his own 1st cousin from Talle named Birgitte, daughter of Anders' brother. Another is that she was Britha from Ronnei (another cousin). ...................... I added this note: These Heiberg Brothers claimed direct descent from the one single lone survivor (a 'feral' girl) of the 1349 - 1350 Black Death found surviving wild on her own many years after the Black Death killed all others in adjacent Jostedal ice glacier valley SW of Talle. The Jostedal ice glacier melt water stream drained through Gaupne into Gaupne Fjord right by Ronnei Farm where the brother's father died. Legend says the surviving Jostedal girl's Heiberg descendants had the Ronnei Farm and had noble ancestry. The Heiberg family coat of arms had two ovals, one with a little bird representing the wild 'feral' Jostedal girl found alone in Jostedal ice glacier valley and the other had the skull and cross bones of the Black Death. And a sprig of a flower representing new life from the Black Death. Ronnei is alongside Gaupne which is SW of Hoyheimsvik which is SW of Talle / Talla Farm. 1350 (Black Death at Jostedal) was 673 years ago! But how many generations? From myself back to 1593 involves 13 generations. (My sister's kids add a generation. Her grandkids add another. = 15) Then you have to take a guess how many generations further back previous to the Heiberg brothers who married circa 1593. If they were born circa 1563 that leaves about 213 years back to the 1349-1350 Black Death in Norway which would probably mean another 7 generations ... altogether about 15 + 7 = 22 generations since the Black Death. Roughly. What we do not know is the history of ancestors there in the area of Talle before 1593 or before the Heiberg brothers or their father who died at Ronnei. We almost certainly had ancestors living in this area besides the Jostedal girl's descendants. Probably going well back into the Viking Era ... We probably had Viking ancestors. In fact, a Viking hoard was found long ago at Talle! Hey if anyone finds an error or typo I need to fix just let me know ... mark

This is a standard metal lunchbox that appears to work just fine. We designed this box ourselves with an uploaded photo and custom text on the front and back. It looks absolutely beautiful except the front of the lunchbox is not centered like it shows in the photo. The print borders don't align with the inset flat part of the box where the preview photo online showed it perfectly centered in there. The back looks nice and centered though.

I'd been experimenting with transferring designs to other products when my wife noticed this old time metal lunchbox. I knew she wanted it thus I created a special one just for here with a couple of her favorite photos I'd taken. Excellent. The cloud image on the front is her favorite of the two. It was taken right off our back patio. The other image was in West Texas several years ago, wide open spaces and roads.
