The Statue of Liberty, The Great Bartholdi Statue Tea Towel
Vintage illustration of The Great Bartholdi Statue, Liberty Enlightening the World originally published by Currier & Ives in 1885. Currier & Ives issued 12 different editions of the print. The Statue of Liberty was the tallest structure in New York City when it was dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue itself is 148 ft tall and stands on a stone base that is 150 feet tall reaching a total of 298 feet tall. She was created by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi and given to the American people by the citizens of France. France admired America for its success in establishing a democratic government, abolishing slavery and for the country’s continued pursuit of liberty. The view includes Liberty erected on Bedloe's island and the New York Harbour with ships.
