By Wilhelm Kuhnert (1865–1926), a German painter and illustrator known for his realistic wildlife art, especially African animals. This image is from Richard Lydekker’s 1912 book Animal Portraiture, Kuhnert’s fifty color plates show mammals, birds, and reptiles with careful detail, combining scientific observation and artistic skill.
