This design features a painting by Ferdinand Hodler (1853–1918), who was one of the best-known Swiss painters of the nineteenth century. It shows a tree-lined path surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Jura mountains can be seen in the distance. Évordes is a hamlet, a small village, near the city of Geneva in Switzerland. The original work was completed in 1890, and its original German title is "Die Strasse nach Evordes".
