The Rite of Spring Pagan Propaganda Poster
This anachronistic take on the subject of The Rite of Spring ritual presented in the classic 1913 ballet suggests what a modern propaganda poster might have looked like during the time of the ancient pagan Slavs. Inspired by Nicholas Roerich’s costumes and Vaslav Nijinsky’s choreography, the “Chosen One” is depicted glamourously standing in her iconic pose, surrounded by the tribe’s Edlers in bear skins. The young maiden is portrayed as a model for all the other potential sacrificial victims with the suggestion that there is no greater honour than to die for the tribe’s benefit when their Sun God Yarilo demands a young virgin to ensure spring’s return each year.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
