This design features a painting by the American artist Edwin Austin Abbey (1852–1911). It depicts Queen Gertrude, Queen of Denmark, a character from Hamlet, the famous play written by William Shakespeare (1564–1616). She is sitting on a grand throne and wearing a golden crown. The Queen also has a white cloak wrapped around her and she is resting her head on her hand. The original artwork was painted in 1895.
