Helena Sofia (Helene) Schjerfbeck was a Finnish painter. The Picture Book was painted in 1927and is the second version of a watercolour, gouache and charcoal on paper.
The models for The Picture Book are Katri and Martta Mäkinen, daughters of the blacksmith Juho Kustaa Mäkinen and his wife Olga, Scherfbeck’s neighbours in Hyvinkää, the railway town to the north of Helsinki to which Schjerfbeck moved with her mother in 1902.

A beautiful card. Highest quality materials and print. Misunderstood the explanation of the gold accent. I took it as the design would be metallic in its appearance. Still a lovely card and I am extremely happy with it overall. Perfect, only that I expected the gold to be metallic.
