"The Philosopher's Egg" Postcard

I've always been interested in alchemy and mediaeval/renaissance science and magic (and how the two were very often interchangeable). I was lucky enough to see one of Nicholas Flamel's original books in London a few weeks ago, and it inspired me to explore some more alchemical themes in my work. There are a lot of references in old alchemical texts to an item called the "Philosopher's Egg" - it is all veiled in such obscure mysticism it's difficult to decipher, but I liked the phrase so I have created my interpretation with the eggs growing with runes on them (symbols for Abstraction, Digestion, Reverberation, Composition and of course Cum Vino!), with a mediaeval landscape in the distance. This is the square full version of the painting scanned before framing - the original was framed triptych style, with a custom gothic frame that my husband Matt made for me. This square version shows a bit more than the original painting did as the intricate frame windows originally covered up some of the areas of this piece. This is my own original acrylic painting.
