The Lives of the Saints Poster
A calendar of saints’ days digitally restored and adapted from an antique print in our collection. The illustration includes symbols, all defined in the table below it, and ranging from a circle for the new year, a star for epiphany, different hearts for all the dates associated with the Virgin Mary, a leg for Matthias, a green branch for May Day, a Spear for St. George, a pair of Shoes for St. Crispin, two keys for St. Peter, a wheel for St. Katherine, etc.
This print was made using an antique engraving in our collection based on the historic works of William Camden (1551-1623) who travelled extensively to document the the history of Britain, its institutions and inhabitants dating back to Roman times. We digitally cleaned the print and lightly shifted some of the elements for a more centred look.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
