The Library of Parliament Canada Postcard

Located on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, the Library of Parliament is a masterpiece of Victorian High Gothic architecture and one of Canada's most cherished landmarks. Completed in 1876, it was the only part of the original Centre Block to survive a devastating fire in 1916. The circular building, with its soaring, intricately carved domed ceiling, is a testament to extraordinary craftsmanship. The library's interior is a breathtaking space, featuring tiers of reading alcoves adorned with ornate ironwork, Canadian white pine carvings, and decorative patterns. At the centre stands a magnificent white marble statue of Queen Victoria, gazing up into the magnificent, lantern-lit dome. The warm wood tones, vibrant colours of the decorative painting, and the soft, diffused light create an atmosphere of scholarly contemplation and historic grandeur.
