They hunted and loved and had children and died, and as the unicorn did none of these things, she never grew tired of watching them." is a powerful quote that sets the story at the very beginning. It captures the Unicorn's nature and beauty, but also captures her as a character with a set personality of innocence and purity. While the quote is a mouthful, it also shows that the unicorn is comfortable with in her home and even enjoys her duty to protecting the forest.
