This postcard is of one of the most beautiful churches in the Greek islands. It's a close up of the sanctuary doors of the iconostasis in the church of the Transfiguration (or Metamorphosis) of the Saviour in Syros, Greece. This Greek Orthodox church was built in 1824 by refugees of Psara and Chios in an uphill road near the city hall of Ermoupolis, and is covered in the most glorious golden, gilded icons and religious paintings.
