THE FIRST JAIL in MONTANA TERRITORY 1860 Poster

Interior of Jail in Bannack ghost town. Reputed to be the first jail in the territory of Montana in early 1860s. Notice the Leg Iron shackle ring in the middle of the floor. Many an outlaw spent time here, including the notorious Henry Plummer, Sheriff of Bannack and leader of the Road Agent Gang fingered for over 100 murders of gold-bearing travelers in the region around the town. He was drug out of this jail (his jail) by vigilantes and hung on a hillside overlooking the town.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
