Albert Gantner's famous print decrying the prohibition of absinthe in Switzerland, originally published in Le Guguss magazine. "Sirs, it is time!" it reads, "The Death of the Green Fairy, Absinthe Prohibition in Switzerland, 7th October 1910." A Nosferatu-like figure representing the temperance movement stands over the slain corpse of absinthe, at whose side lay wreaths from the Swiss cantons and from individual freedom itself. In the background vigourous figures swearing the legendary oath of the Old Swiss Confederacy contrast with a more decrepit personification of the country in 1910. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
