The Castle Gate (by Ferdinand Knab) Ceramic Tile
This design features a painting by the German artist Ferdinand Knab. It depicts an elegant iron gate surrounded by stone pillars. It is set in a woodland landscape with overgrown trees and plants. The gate is said to lead towards a great castle. There is a white bird flying in foreground. The sky is orange and red with a beautiful sunset. The scene can perhaps be said to be somewhat spooky and unsettling. The original artwork was painted by Ferdinand Knab in 1881.
