The Birth of Venus Poster

The Birth of Venus is a painting by Sandro Botticelli. It depicts the goddess Venus, having emerged from the sea as a full grown woman, arriving at the sea-shore. This artwork is a relatively small 9 megapixel image suitable for printing portfolio-sized prints. It is sized to fit common, inexpensive 8" x 10", 8.5" x 11", and 11 x 14 inch frames. A small border has been added to each that will be covered by any frame. Before printing, Zazzle allows you to add a matte border in any colour which would allow you to mount the image in a 16 x 20 inch or other sized frame if you do not have a matte card. This image is 2714 x 3470 pixels, which includes the 37 pixel black border. Printed at 8 x 10 inches, it prints at a high-resolution 347 PPI (pixels per inch). At 8.5" x 11" printing is 320 PPI, and at 11" x 14" it is 248 PPI. Were you to print the image to fit a 16" x 20" frame (by printing it 16" wide and trimming a few tenths of an inch off the long side), the print would be 170 PPI which would still look fine at any normal viewing distance (but scrutinised up close you might see some pixelation). This image appears to be pre-1923 and so is a public domain image of the original artwork.
