10.75” round black acrylic wall clock with an ancient Greek image of a lounging man enjoying the musical talent of a young boy. The ancient Greeks were music lovers and music was an important part of their daily lives. Athenian children were taught music as part of their education. They usually learned the lyre, a wooden stringed instrument played with a plectrum. However, the instrument you can see being played in this image is called a double-aulos, a pair of pipes with vibrating reeds, which worked like the mouthpiece of a modern bassoon.
