TEXAS EPIC OIL 1919 POSTER
In 1919, the oil boom town of Burkburnett, Texas.
In 1912, oil was discovered west of the town attracting thousands to the area and by 1918, about 20,000 people had settled around the oilfield.
This part of the town's history was chronicled in the film Boom Town with Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy.
An epic photo showing what happens when an oil field is integrated with a town. Of note is the rutted road on the left ... so many derricks they are hard to count ... what looks like Main Street ... a train and Lumber yard ... and innumerable steam and smoke stacks spewing into the air.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
