This painting graphically tells the story of the Battle of Teutoberg Forest, in which Hermann (Arminius) the Liberator led the northern German tribes to victory against Rome, thus freeing Northern Germany and Scandinavia from the influence of Roman law and preserving the Teutonic common law which the Angles and Saxons later brought to Britain. The legal institutes we prize were preserved by this battle over 2,000 years ago. Excellent quality; the color and detail are very vivid and tell the story of Teutoberg Forest very well. Thank you!

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
