Team Eugenie de Montijo 6 Cm Round Badge

Eugenie de Montijo was the last Empress of France. Her husband, Emperor Napoleon III, married her despite opposition from people who felt she wasn't grand enough (she was a nobleman's daughter, rather than a princess). She had one son by Napoleon. After he was overthrown following the Franco-Prussian war the pair settled in England. Eugenie became a friend of Queen Victoria. She survived her husband, her son, and her Royal friend, and even saw the First World War, during which she helped fund hospitals. She died in 1920 and is buried at Farnborough in England, next to her husband and her son.
