Taiko-giri T-Shirt

The paulownia crest, along with the chrysanthemum crest, has a felicitous significance and has been used as an authoritative crest since ancient times as a design for armor, swords, and their accessories. During the era of Hideyoshi, it was further applied to general art crafts, making the paulownia crest extremely popular. It was used in everything from clothing and furnishings to architectural carvings, and it is said that there was hardly anything that didn't use this design, forming a style known as Taiko-giri, which was bold and unconstrained. The application of this design can be seen in most art works of the Momoyama period ("Japanese Heraldry").
