Széchenyi Chain Bridge, Budapest, Hungary Postcard: The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a very old and iconic suspension bridge that spans the River Danube to connect Buda and Pest. This stunning photo was taken from Buda Castle. It was the first permanent bridge in Hungary to connect the Eastern and Western sides, built in 1849 by English engineer William Tierney Clark. It's more commonly referred to as just the Chain Bridge.
