"Sunset Skags" Landscape Poster pines
A number of years ago, my wife Carolyn and I did a weekend arts and crafts show at a ski resort in our home state of West Virginia. The show was part of a Summer program to attract tourists to the resort during the off season. We stayed at the resort lodge and just outside our bedroom stood a large stand of dead pines. I don't know if they were the result of fire, disease or some other cause but they were quite interesting to see during the sunsets and sunrises of each day. We stayed three nights and each evening a large eagle landed on the same branch in the same tree and set there without noticeably moving for about an hour before flying off to parts unknown. This image is one of several small sketches I did while waiting for room service to deliver a late supper. The one with the eagle in it sold the last day of the show which was nice but I wish I had photographed it before putting it in the mat bin.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
