About This Design

Sunny Worthing kitchen towel

Sunny Worthing kitchen towel

Art Deco poster-style Illustrations feature landmarks including Worthing Dome, Shoreham Airport and more to come. Designs by digital artist Vicky Vaughan who is a fan of Art Deco style architecture. This illustration of Worthing Dome makes the perfect birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift for parents, sisters, brothers, aunties and uncles, sons and daughters. Although most people refer to the Dome as an Art Deco building, it was built in 1910 as an Edwardian Leisure Center, commissioned by Carl Adolf Seebold from Switzerland. It was originally built as (and named as) Kursaal. Kursaals were health resorts for tourists which originated from Germany and were fashionable in a seaside towns – they offered many forms of entertainment under one roof and was home to roller skating, concerts, events and the first cinema for paying audiences in West Sussex. The Worthing Dome is now one of the oldest working cinemas in the UK although it has a checker history and has almost been demolished a number of times. For the time being, this beautiful building is now safe and and is owned by Worthing Dome and Regeneration Trust. If you haven’t visited, it is well worth a trip as the interior is restored to its former glory. Read more about it (http://www.worthingdome.com/history.html). The film, Wish you Were Here was filmed in Worthing with many scenes inside the Dome. http://worthingsussex.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/wish-you-were-here-film.html Follow Vicky on www.twitter.com/TheBrandSurgery to find out more.
