Sukkot - the Four Species Tie

A central observance of the holiday of Sukkot is gathering and waving of the four species; willow leaves, myrtle leaves, a palm frond and an citroen. These four species combine to represent the entire nation of Israel. The willow symbolises those who perform no good deeds or engage in Torah. The myrtle symbolises those who perform good deeds but do nor engage in Torah study. The palm represents those who study Torah but do not perform good deeds, and finally the citroen represents those who study Torah and perform good deeds.The essence of this practice is to acknowledge that the nation of Israel is one, indivisible body - and all are essential at all times. This tie was hand designed in the Holy land by artist Tzvi Lebetkin and is part of a larger collection celebrating the Jewish festivals.
