Streets of Gold (Red) - Ceramic Ornament

The Dandenong Ranges are always stunning but perhaps Autumn is when they shine the brightest. Against the backdrop of the mountain ash and fern trees, the many exotic, deciduous trees add splashes of brilliant golds, oranges and reds as the weather cools down. The Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens are no exception to this - even before you step foot into the gardens themselves. My watercolour and pen and ink artwork captures a rich autumnal scene just outside of the main entrance to the gardens. On this occasion it seemed as if the streets were lined with gold and I thought of another street that is said to be paved with actual gold - a street that all God's children will one day walk along in perfect peace. May this scene lift your thoughts heavenward and bring at least a moment's relief from the cares of this life.
