A unique pair of leggings featuring a Hubble Space Telescope image of the globular cluster NGC 6397.
Fun Stuff:
NGC 6397 is a star cluster of hundreds of thousands of ancient stars that orbits the outer edges of the Milky Way galaxy. Spherical shaped star clusters like these are known as globular clusters, and they contain some of the oldest stars in the galaxy. This globular cluster is one of the closest to Earth, making it a prime target for astronomers who want to study the properties of the Milky Way’s likely first generation of stars.
Technical Stuff:
This image is a composite of multiple observations taken by the Hubble Space Telescope’s Advanced Camera for Surveys. Two filters were used, one to sample bluer light, the other to sample redder light, and assigned colours to produce the lovely scene you see here.
