Stairway at Auvers by van Gogh: Mouse Pad

Vincent van Gogh was a master at visually recording the everyday lives of people. Here, we have another work of art from 1890. People, various man-made structures, and aspects of nature share space on the canvas, which takes place outside. The outdoor stairway can be found towards the back of the work. The size and colour of dark-yellow really make the stairway stand out. Vincent van Gogh did various paintings that seem to convey loneliness and isolation, even if multiple people were included in the work. I do not sense that in this work. Here, there seems to be a connection, instead of loneliness. Multiple people are walking towards the stairway, while one is in the process of using it. Perhaps the use of the stairway is one thing that connects this small community of people. Perhaps use of the stairway by multiple people may lead to conversations when they run into each other.
