St. Simeon the God-Receiver Orthodox Prayer Card

St. Simeon the God-Receiver was promised by God that he would live to see the Messiah, Jesus, before he died. According to Orthodox tradition, he was one of the seventy scholars who translated the Hebrew Old Testament into Greek (the Septuagint), a divine mission that was prolonged to confirm the prophecy of a virgin's conception, which he had initially questioned. St. Simeon met the infant Jesus at the Temple and recognised Him as the Saviour, holding Him in his arms and saying, "Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace".
