St Michael's Tower on Glastonbury Tor Poster

The iconic tower is how many recognise Glastonbury Tor from a distance. It figures in a million photographs. Here it is up close and personal. The tower is all that remains of a church, dedicated to St Michael, which was destroyed following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. This church, in turn, replaced an earlier one reduced to rubble under an earthquake's tremors. Open to the elements, it provides scant shelter for those Christian and Pagan pilgrims, who climb the steep ways to the summit of the Tor. But it is beloved by them all.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
