St John the Evangelist - Mediaeval Manuscript Notebook

Mediaeval Illuminated Manuscript ornamented with beautiful vegetal artistic items. It represents Saint John the Evangelist writing the Gospel. The eagle is the symbol of this Apostle, whose Jesus Christ loved particularly. At the top, one can see the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. The text is the beginning of the prologue to the Gospel in Latin: In principio erat Verbum et Verbum erat apud Deum et Deus erat Verbum...". This evangelical text is read at the end of the traditional tridentine mass. That's why it is also called "the last gospel". The whole is beautifully decorated.
