Color Palette postcards are found in an image's associated COLLECTION and in the Special COLLECTION devoted just to color palettes. + Here, in this detail of Three Archangels and Tobias by Francesco Botticini (1446-1498), a minor master of the Early Italian Renaissance, St. Gabriel, Archangel of the Annunciation, carries a lily, symbol of purity, and his principal attribute. Like the other Archangels, St. Gabriel wears an openwork halo. He is clad in a white gown shaded in pastel pinks, blues, and violets, and is wrapped in a green mantle lined in vibrant aqua blue. His wings are darker shades of pink and purple. The contours of the figures are precisely delineated.
