Spirit Lake Mouse Pad

Spirit Lake, Mount St. Helens. When St. Helens erupted in 1980 a tremendous lateral explosion blasted through the avalanche and developed into a turbulent cloud of rock, ash, and hot gases (400+degrees) that rolled over ridges, slamming trees to the ground. The avalanche surged into Spirit Lake, and sloshed huge waves 800 feet up the surrounding hillsides, sweeping trees and debris into the lake. Shattered trees cover the land and float on the surface of Spirit Lake.
