Sphinx, Mediaeval Bestiary Art Notebook

Sphinx, Mediaeval Bestiary Art Notebook On a sun warmed limestone plateau, a winged sphinx lies with her lion paws stretched out and her calm face turned towards the road. Pale cliffs glow behind her, her wings fold neatly along her back, and the desert air ripples with heat. Travelers in the old stories learned that she asks one riddle, and waits for the answer for as long as it takes. That patience of a question that waits forever shapes the whole design. A large gold drop cap opens the word SPHINX, with a red subtitle, of the Limestone Plateau, set beneath it over a small black ornament. A short scholar's entry in old style lettering fills the left column, and a framed window on the right shows the winged sphinx resting on a pale limestone ledge. A slim glowing gold rune marks the lower left corner. Sand gold, limestone cream, and desert sky blue glow on a parchment tone page darkened at the edges, wrapped in curling blue and red acanthus vines, red and gold flowers, four little songbirds, and thin gold rails. • Winged sphinx resting on a sunlit limestone plateau • Gold drop cap S, red subtitle of the Limestone Plateau, and a short scholar's lore entry • Sand gold, limestone cream, and sky blue on a parchment tone page with a blue and red floral border • Part of the Mediaeval Bestiary Notebook Collection from Myth And Monsters
