Speckled Guineafowl Bird (by Jan Mankes) Stone Coaster

This design features a print of a painting by the Dutch artist Jan Mankes (1889–1920). It depicts a guineafowl bird. Guineafowl are sometimes called "pet speckled hens", and they come originally from sub-Saharan Africa. They are related to turkeys, chickens, quail and other landfowl. The bird is seen here in profile: its body is dark blue with white spots, and its head is white with a red beak and caruncle. The original art was painted by Jan Mankes in 1917.

The coasters are gorgeous, a quality feel and heavy weight. They look like a precious archeological find. A rustic stone juxtaposed with a modern floral black and white print. I like the way the print goes slightly imperfect on the cut stone edges giving them a kind-of natural beauty. They are a great product and I use them to protect the arms of my couch from hot cups of coffee. Printing is good happy with the quality.
