Sparrow facing ten bamboo leaves golf head cover

The sparrow and bamboo are inseparable as sparrows live in bamboo forests, so the sparrow was likely added as an accompaniment to the bamboo crest. However, ancient people didn't see the sparrow as just an accompaniment, but as a divine messenger to summon the gods to the yorishiro (a substitute or representation of a deity). It's the same as the dove at the Hachiman shrine or the crow at the Kumano shrine. The sparrow is a bird that summons or invites the gods. (From 'Kamon Hyakuwa (Upper)' by Danwa Keiji) Although bamboo isn't directly associated with such shrines, it's an invitation symbol attached to the yorishiro. (same book, p.320) The name is based on 'Edo Monsho-shu'. 'Mon no Izumi' and 'Monsho Dai Shusei' refer to it as 'Sparrow facing sasabamboo in a circle'.
